March 26, 2006 Pokemon USA, Inc. 1177 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10036 Dear Pokemon USA: As further news of the results of the acquisition of the license surfaces, I want to say that I am disappointed with the way you are handling the anime. The threat of a voice actor change looms closer, and I, as a devoted fan of the show, feel that you should be aware of our concerns as fans and keep them in mind as the airing of the pilot episode draws closer. While I am glad that you’ve decided to wait until after the airing of “The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon” to begin work on the ninth season, and wait for feedback, I still want to voice my worries before the episode even airs. Simply the fact that a change is being considered to save money is worrisome, as it conveys the impression that you’re willing to shortchange the fans, as well as possibly sacrifice quality, in the name of saving money. However, I will point out that since a good deal of the money made off the anime, in addition to whatever WB/CW is paying for production, comes from DVD sales, this may not be the case. If the voice actors change, DVD sales may drop. I have spent around $120 in the past year on Pokemon DVDs, and hope to spend more. However, this may end after the release of the eighth movie, if you do not return to the original voice cast. Fans across the country are deeply concerned about what will become of the anime, and fear losing the voice actors we’ve come to know and love over the past eight years. Please consider this carefully. Yours truly, Dawn Maier
