To Whom It May Concern : I have been a Pokémon fan since the age of 12. It was my Saturday ritual to wake up in the wee hours of the morning, despite the fatigue from a week of school, and sit in front of the TV and watch my favourite anime. I found myself doing this for years on end, even making sure I came home as soon as school was out to watch Pokémon in the evening. Why was I so addicted to this show? It was the voice actors. Ash’s enthusiastic cries, the diva resonance that was Jessie, James’ hilarious shrills, Meowth’s undaunted Brooklyn accent. These voices were just as good as the original Japanese version. Throughout my years, my tastes have grown and changed – I prefer the original Japanese tracks than the dubbed, I was interested in the more mature anime than the comical ones. But that does not ring true to the Pokémon series and it’s because of these incredibly talented voice actors. Rachael Lillis, Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart and Maddie Blaustein have made a huge impact on my childhood. They gave complete life to the Pokémon cast and loved doing what they were doing. To replace them with sound-alikes is a complete insult. These people have given their own vision to the characters – They made the characters their own. By replacing this talented cast with inexperienced voiceovers, you are taking away the eight years of endless work these voice actors have done as well as the quality that us Pokémon fans have come to expect. I have not watched the ninth series of Pokémon, nor did I watch the 10th Anniversary special. I saw enough to hear what these new voiceovers had to give to the anime, and I am dismayed. There was no reason to change what hasn’t been broken. Pokémon, to me, has always been about inspiring its viewers to never give up and to always fight for what you want. Just as Ash will battle endlessly to win a gym badge, I and among countless other Pokémon fans, will fight to bring back our beloved voice actors. I thank you for your time and I am looking forward for a new series of Pokémon with our original voice actors back. Sincerely, Monika Gonzalez aka Puff MistressPuff@gmail.com
